WYOMISSING, PA — Wyomissing police handled 55 incidents between February 12 and February 13, including a reported assault, a sex offense complaint, several motor vehicle crashes and numerous traffic citations, according to the department’s incident listing.
According to police, at 11:56 a.m. February 12, officers responded to Park Road North after a walk-in complainant reported she had been touched inappropriately. The report was placed on hold for follow-up investigation.
Police also documented a separate walk-in complaint at 9:38 p.m. February 12 on Reading Avenue related to an ongoing child abuse investigation being handled by Berks County Detectives. The complainant was advised to contact the assigned detective, according to the listing.
At approximately 12:09 p.m. February 12, police responded to North Wyomissing Boulevard and Fourth Street for a two-vehicle crash with no reported injuries. Both vehicles were towed. A second reportable crash occurred at 1:09 p.m. on North Wyomissing Boulevard when two drivers allegedly struck each other while attempting to change lanes at the same time. Police said one operator was evaluated at the scene and refused transport.
On February 13, officers responded to a reported hit-and-run crash at 12:54 p.m. at State Hill Road and Berkshire Square. According to police, the striking vehicle left the scene and its registration was unknown. A separate hit-and-run was reported at 10:40 p.m. on Wellington Boulevard. Both incidents remain under investigation.
Police conducted multiple traffic stops over the two-day period. Citations were issued for offenses including driving without a license, expired registration, lack of insurance, traffic signal violations and inspection and emission violations, according to the report. Several drivers were issued warnings.
Officers also responded to multiple burglar alarm calls, all of which were determined to be false alarms, police said. Additional calls included a 911 hang-up investigation, suspicious activity complaints, a disabled vehicle on Route 222 and a non-physical domestic dispute on Hill Avenue in which both parties reportedly stated it was a verbal argument and appeared unharmed.
Police indicated all incidents remain under investigation where applicable.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
