Man Taken Into Custody on Gun Charges in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police announced the arrest of 27-year-old Jermaine Hunter on gun charges.

The criminal complaint alleges that on May 6, at approximately 10:00 p.m., members of Wilmington’s Uniformed Services Division, responded to the 1000 block of N. Market Street, in reference to a person with a gun. Upon arrival, officers were advised that two male subjects had been engaged in a verbal altercation and one of the subjects displayed a firearm.

A short time later, officers observed a male subject matching the description of the armed subject in the area, and conducted a pedestrian stop. Officers made contact with 27-year-old Jermaine Hunter, who was taken into custody without incident. Police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun.

Hunter has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Aggravated Menacing

He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $65,000 cash-only bail.
