HILLTOWN TWP, PA — Motorists in central Bucks County should prepare for weeks of daytime slowdowns as PennDOT launches pipe replacement work along a busy stretch of Route 113.
PennDOT announced that construction will begin Monday, January 26, on northbound Route 113, also known as Souderton Road, as part of a broader $15.9 million effort to upgrade stormwater management facilities on more than 90 state highways across the five-county Philadelphia region.
From January 26 through Friday, February 27, a weekday lane closure will be in place from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on northbound Route 113 between the Route 309 (Sellersville Bypass) off-ramp and Bethlehem Pike. PennDOT warned drivers to expect backups and delays through the work zone and advised motorists to allow extra travel time. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The project is aimed at improving drainage and reducing long-term roadway deterioration caused by aging stormwater infrastructure, a recurring issue across southeastern Pennsylvania.
Highway Materials, Inc. of Flourtown is serving as the general contractor. The work is funded entirely with state dollars.
With nearly a month of recurring daytime lane restrictions planned on a key commuter route, drivers are urged to plan ahead and stay informed as conditions change.
