LANCASTER, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that lane closures are scheduled next weekend on Route 222 in Lancaster County to allow for bridge expansion dam repairs.
From Friday, September 12, at 8:00 p.m. through Monday, September 15, at 6:00 a.m., alternating lane restrictions will be in place in both directions between the Bushong Road and Pool Road overpasses. An 11-foot width restriction will also be enforced.
The work is part of an $8.5 million pavement preservation project covering a 3.3-mile stretch of Route 222 in Manheim, Warwick, and West Earl townships. Improvements include resurfacing, milling, base repair, concrete patching, guiderail upgrades, line painting, and sign replacements.
PennDOT reported that most of the project has been completed, though overnight lane closures on southbound Route 222 will continue for final tasks. Additional weekend restrictions will be necessary to finish bridge pavement repairs and expansion joint replacements.
New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, Pennsylvania, is the contractor. The project is expected to be completed by October 20, 2025.
Motorists are urged to remain alert and cautious while traveling through the work zone.
