WEST EARL TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that a weekend lane closure will be in effect on southbound Route 222 at the bridge over Route 772 (Newport Road) in West Earl Township, Lancaster County, as part of ongoing pavement preservation work.
Beginning tonight, Friday, July 25, at 8:00 PM and continuing through 6:00 AM on Monday, July 28, the southbound bridge will be reduced to a single 11-foot-wide lane to allow for bridge pavement repairs.
This closure is part of a broader $8.5 million project targeting a 3.3-mile stretch of Route 222 through Manheim, Warwick, and West Earl townships. The work includes full-width milling, resurfacing, base repairs, concrete patching, guiderail upgrades, and improvements to signage and line striping.
Although the majority of the project has been completed, additional overnight and weekend closures are expected as crews finalize bridge pavement repairs and replace expansion joints. Drivers are urged to remain alert and use caution while traveling through active construction zones.
New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., based in New Enterprise, PA, is serving as the general contractor. Completion of the project is anticipated by October 20, 2025.
