Road Closed

TINICUM TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that westbound Route 291 (Governor Printz Boulevard) will close next weekend for bridge demolition under a $26.5 million replacement project in Tinicum Township, Delaware County.

From 3:00 AM Saturday, October 11, to approximately 1:00 PM Sunday, October 12, the roadway will be closed between Scott Way/Bartram Avenue and Route 420 (Wanamaker Avenue). Traffic will be detoured to southbound I-95 from Bartram Avenue, exiting at Route 420/Essington (Exit 9A) to rejoin Route 291.

The project will replace the deteriorated twin bridges with a wider, two-span steel plate girder structure, adding eight-foot shoulders and space for a future multiuse trail. Additional upgrades include new signage, guiderail, pavement markings, and improved traffic signals at Bartram Avenue/Scott Way.

Motorists should expect delays and allow extra travel time. All work is weather dependent.
