LANCASTER, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced a full closure of Route 30 and the bridge carrying Route 222 over Route 30 in Lancaster County from 9:00 PM Friday, October 10, through 5:00 AM Monday, October 13, for bridge demolition under the Route 30/Route 222 Interchange Improvement Project. A backup weekend closure is scheduled for October 17-20 if needed.

The work involves removing the old bridge that carried eastbound Route 30 to northbound Route 222. Detours will be in place for all directions, with motorists advised to expect delays and congestion along alternate routes. Periodic 15-minute traffic stops will also occur on Route 222 southbound to Route 30 westbound for overhead sign installation.

The $72.1 million project will reconstruct the interchange, widen Route 222 to six lanes, and replace two ramp bridges. Work is expected to be completed by September 2027.
