BRYN MAWR, PA — Visiting Angels has named Tammy Tome, a caregiver from its York, Pennsylvania location, as the 2025 National Caregiver of the Year. Selected from nominations across the country, Tammy was recognized for her remarkable compassion, dependability, and the profound impact she has on the lives of her clients and their families.
“Tammy represents the very best of what it means to be an Angel,” said Susan Heinle, owner of Visiting Angels York. “Her compassion, skill, and ability to meet clients exactly where they are, both physically and emotionally, make her truly exceptional. We’re so proud to see her honored for the difference she makes every single day.”
Over the course of her 25-year caregiving career, Tammy has been a trusted advocate for her clients, ensuring both their physical and emotional well-being. Her clients speak to her dedication and life-changing impact. One described Tammy as “the wind behind their backs” during challenging days and “a welcome break” for a caregiving spouse. “Tammy is as close as we will get to having a manual to keep us moving through Parkinson’s Disease and the challenges that arise,” the woman added.
Tammy’s work extends beyond providing care; she restores dignity and self-worth to her clients. One client, previously living in a shelter, credited Tammy with helping him feel “like a real person again.”
“Tammy doesn’t just care for people; she reinforces their dignity and provides families with hope,” said Larry Meigs, CEO of Visiting Angels. “She embodies what it means to be an Angel, providing compassionate, dedicated, and personalized care. We’re honored to recognize Tammy with the prestigious title of Caregiver of the Year.”
Tammy will receive a $10,000 check and an award during an upcoming ceremony.
