VALLEY FORGE, PA — Valley Forge Park Alliance announced a series of public events throughout 2026 to mark the 50th anniversary of Valley Forge National Historical Park and the nation’s 250th anniversary, with programming scheduled from April through July.

The organization said the season will culminate on July 4 with an America250 celebration at the park’s Maurice Stephens House, featuring public readings of the Declaration of Independence, live music, storytelling, and food vendors.

The Alliance said the events are part of a broader effort to engage the public in the historical, cultural, and natural significance of Valley Forge while marking both milestones.

“We are proud to host the celebration of America’s 250th and Valley Forge Park’s 50th anniversary … at the Maurice Stephens House this year,” said Molly Duffy, executive director of Valley Forge Park Alliance. “It will be wonderful to share this monumental day and our mission of citizen stewardship with visitors from near and far.”

The schedule begins April 22 with an anniversary event focused on the Pennsylvania Piedmont Plateau, featuring ecologist Roger Latham discussing the region’s geology and ecology. The event is being held in partnership with Jenkins Arboretum & Gardens and Penn State Great Valley.

On May 12, the Alliance will host historian Emily Sneff for a discussion of her book When the Declaration of Independence Was News, which examines the document’s early reception in 1776.

The Alliance said the July 4 celebration will serve as the centerpiece of the season, combining historical programming with public activities tied to the founding of the United States.

The Alliance, which is also marking its 50th year as the park’s nonprofit partner, said the events are intended to strengthen public engagement and support ongoing preservation efforts.
