Unisys Announces Winners of 16th Innovation Program

Unisys Corporation

BENGALURU, India & BLUE BELL, PAUnisys (NYSE: UIS) has revealed the winners of its 16th Unisys Innovation Program (UIP), an annual competition designed to inspire engineering students across India to address real-world problems through innovative, technology-driven solutions. Since its inception in 2009, the program has served as a platform to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry expertise.

This year’s program saw more than 12,700 students register and submit 890 projects under eight themes focused on business and technical challenges. A panel of judges assessed each project based on feasibility, innovation, technical merit, and potential impact on industries.

Taking the top spot, RV College of Engineering presented “Quantum Neural Network for Brain Tumor MRI Classification via Quantum Machine Learning.” The project applies cutting-edge Quantum ResNet and Q-attention models to achieve over 98% accuracy in tumor diagnostics, enabling high-quality MRI analysis from lower-resolution scanners. The innovative approach promises to deliver cost-effective, efficient healthcare solutions for underserved regions.

RV College of Engineering also secured second place for their project “Electronic Differential for Electric Vehicles.” By integrating artificial intelligence into vehicle dynamics, the system enhances energy efficiency, traction, and stability, replacing traditional mechanical differentials with real-time predictive control to advance electric mobility.

Third place was awarded to Ramaiah Institute of Technology for their “Earbud-Based Electroencephalogram (EEG) Monitoring System.” The project introduces a discreet, AI-driven device for continuous brain monitoring, targeting both healthcare and consumer applications with dry electrodes and advanced seizure detection.

“This year’s Unisys Innovation Program has set a new benchmark for creativity and technical excellence,” remarked Mike Thomson, CEO and president of Unisys. “The outstanding projects reflect the depth of talent among India’s next class of engineers. At Unisys, we remain committed to nurturing this spirit of curiosity and experimentation.”
