DOUGLASSVILLE, PAACECO has stepped in to assist the Animal Rescue League (ARL) of Berks County, donating more than 100 towels after the shelter faced an abrupt and critical supply shortage affecting its daily animal care operations.

The donation, part of ACECO’s Hoist Up! Outreach Initiative, arrives as the ARL works through two simultaneous challenges: an illness circulating through its kennels and a large collector case that left many of the shelter’s towels unusable. Towels are essential to the organization’s day-to-day functions — lining kennels, drying animals after baths, and supporting routine cleaning that keeps the facility safe and sanitary.

“Supporting the ARL’s mission to provide a safe and caring environment for animals is something we strongly believe in,” said Desiree Pierson, Outreach & Development Executive Assistant at ACECO. “We are committed to making a positive impact in our community, and our Hoist Up! Outreach Initiative is just one way we can contribute to the well-being of animals in need.”

The ARL of Berks County continues to manage high intake levels while ensuring animals receive proper care, comfort, and medical attention. ACECO’s support, the organization said, helps maintain the shelter’s operations during a period of strain and reinforces the ARL’s commitment to ensuring animals remain clean, warm, and cared for.
