LOWER POTTSGROVE TWP, PA — Drivers along one of Montgomery County’s busiest corridors should brace for another week of disruptions as PennDOT resumes roadway reconstruction on U.S. 422 in Lower Pottsgrove Township.
PennDOT said lane closures will affect both directions of the expressway from Monday, December 15, through Friday, December 19, as part of its $83.6 million reconstruction project spanning roughly 2.1 miles between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road.
On the westbound side, lanes will be restricted daily from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM between the Sanatoga (Evergreen Road) and Hanover Street interchanges. On the eastbound side, lane closures will run from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM along the same stretch.
The work is weather dependent, but PennDOT cautioned that significant backups and delays are likely during the daytime hours, particularly during commuter and midday travel periods.
The long-term project includes full roadway reconstruction and bridge replacements aimed at improving safety and traffic flow on a heavily traveled section of the expressway.
Motorists are urged to allow extra travel time, consider alternate routes, and remain alert through the work zone.
For real-time lane restrictions, detours, and live traffic conditions before and during the closures, drivers are encouraged to visit the MyChesCo Traffic Center.
