U.S. 422 Lane Closures Return as Major Reconstruction Pushes Forward

Traffic Advisory

LOWER POTTSGROVE TWP, PA — PennDOT is warning drivers to brace for another week of daytime congestion as reconstruction work continues along a critical stretch of U.S. 422 in Montgomery County.

The agency announced that roadway reconstruction will move forward next week as part of an $83.6 million project to rebuild and modernize approximately 2.1 miles of the expressway and replace multiple bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange at Evergreen Road and Porter Road.

From Monday, February 9, through Friday, February 13, periodic lane closures will affect both directions of travel. Westbound U.S. 422 will see restrictions from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM between the Sanatoga and Hanover Street interchanges. Eastbound traffic will be impacted from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM between the Hanover Street and Sanatoga interchanges.

PennDOT cautioned motorists to expect backups and travel delays during work hours and urged drivers to allow extra time when passing through the construction zone. All scheduled activities are weather dependent and subject to change based on conditions.

The long-term project is aimed at improving safety, traffic flow, and reliability on a heavily traveled corridor that serves commuters, commercial traffic, and regional travel through western Montgomery County.

With lane restrictions returning during peak daytime hours, motorists are strongly encouraged to plan ahead and stay informed before traveling.
