LOS ANGELES, CA & RADNOR, PA — Triumph Group, Inc. (NYSE: TGI) and Divergent Technologies, Inc. have announced a groundbreaking partnership to qualify multiple critical manned aircraft components utilizing Divergent’s Adaptive Production System (DAPS™). The collaboration marks a significant milestone in bringing advanced additive manufacturing techniques to high-performance aerospace applications.
The aerospace components, critical for flight safety, are undergoing stringent testing and validation designed to meet regulatory certification for use on high-performance aircraft. This initiative validates the growing role of DAPSâ„¢ technology in solving manufacturing challenges traditionally tied to legacy methods like casting.
DAPSâ„¢ is a fully integrated design and manufacturing platform utilizing AI-driven design, industrial-scale additive manufacturing, and robotics. This advanced approach reduces cost, accelerates manufacturing timelines, and produces high-performance structures that outperform conventionally manufactured alternatives. Triumph leveraged the DAPSâ„¢ digital toolchain for its gearbox component design, enabling the delivery of production-fidelity structures ready for testing and seamless scaling to production.
Lukas Czinger, President and CEO of Divergent, emphasized the milestone’s importance. “This qualification process of safety-critical components for manned aircraft represents a significant step forward in our mission to transform the global industrial base with fully digital, adaptive engineering and manufacturing. DAPSâ„¢ is capable of rapidly delivering demanding aerospace applications that require the highest levels of performance and reliability,” he said.
Pete Gibson, President of TRIUMPH Geared Solutions, highlighted the collaboration’s strategic value. “The partnership with Divergent enables TRIUMPH to meaningfully accelerate capabilities for our customers. Developing additive manufacturing solutions to support new designs, active production programs, and aftermarket needs, we are working together with velocity to validate and qualify key structural components. This positions both companies at the forefront of this manufacturing revolution.”
The program is set to deliver approximately 100 units over the next two years, encompassing several tons of qualified additive manufacturing material by the completion of the production run. This achievement underscores the potential of DAPSâ„¢ to address supply chain challenges while advancing innovation in aerospace manufacturing.
Together, Triumph and Divergent are setting a new standard for efficiency, reliability, and performance through cutting-edge manufacturing technology, signaling a pivotal shift in the industry’s approach to critical component production.
