ROBESONIA, PA — A routine attempt to cross a busy borough roadway turned tragic Wednesday evening when a 65-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle in Robesonia Borough, prompting an active investigation by the South Heidelberg Township Police Department.
Police said officers were dispatched at approximately 6:20 p.m. on January 14, 2026, to the intersection of West Penn Avenue and South Brooke Street for a reported motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. When officers arrived, they found the victim, identified as Sherry Yoh of North Heidelberg Township, suffering from critical injuries after being struck by an eastbound vehicle.
Western Berks Emergency Medical Services personnel were already on scene providing medical treatment. Despite those efforts, Yoh was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the preliminary investigation, Yoh had parked her vehicle along the north side of West Penn Avenue and was attempting to cross the roadway to meet family members waiting on the south side. Witnesses told police she successfully crossed the westbound lane before entering the eastbound lane, where she was struck by an eastbound vehicle.
Investigators said the driver of the vehicle involved immediately stopped and remained at the scene, along with several other motorists who also stopped to render aid. Police said the driver is fully cooperating as the investigation continues.
No charges have been filed, and authorities emphasized that the circumstances surrounding the collision remain under review. As with any police investigation, any individual who may later be identified as a suspect or defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
The South Heidelberg Township Police Department is asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact Officer Valerio at rvalerio@sheidpd.org or Officer Cruz at acruz@sheidpd.org. Police said no further details will be released at this time due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
The department thanked the Robesonia Fire Company, Western Berks EMS, and the Berks County Coroner’s Office for their assistance at the scene. Chief Hook also briefed Robesonia Mayor Dennis Rick following the incident and expressed condolences to the Yoh family.
