NORTH EAST, MD — The Milburn Stone Theatre has launched a $300,000 “Take Your Seat” campaign to fund seating and facility upgrades aimed at modernizing the venue in Cecil County, according to a February 24 news release.
The fundraising effort will support new seating, updated house lighting and improvements to the lobby, concessions and restroom areas, theatre officials said.
Karen Uricoli, executive director of the Cecil College Foundation & Alumni Development, said the foundation is partnering with the theatre to lead the campaign.
“The Cecil College Foundation is honored to lead this transformative campaign in partnership with the Milburn Stone Theatre, driving forward this vital upgrade and elevating the experience for every patron from the moment they step into the space,” Uricoli said.
Donors may dedicate seats at $850 for one seat, $1,500 for two seats and $2,500 for four seats. Aisle seats are available for an additional $150 per seat, according to the release.
Contributors who give more than $250 will be invited to an “Opening Night Concert,” dedication ceremony and reception in late summer 2026, with the date to be announced.
Daniel Combs, managing director of the Milburn Stone Theatre, said the project is designed to enhance the overall experience for patrons.
“With the support of generous donors and patrons of the arts, we have an exciting opportunity to enhance the experience through new seating, a refreshed look, improved house lighting, and upgraded lobby, concessions, and restroom amenities,” Combs said.
All gifts to the campaign are tax-deductible, and organizers said contributions of any size are welcome.
For Cecil County residents, the campaign represents a significant investment in a long-standing community arts venue that serves as a cultural hub for the region.
