NORRISTOWN, PAThe Wardrobe, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing clothing and support services, will celebrate the opening of its newest location in Norristown on Tuesday, September 9. The site, located at 536 George Street, will operate Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., offering shopping, guest services, volunteer opportunities, and donation drop-offs.

The expansion coincides with a milestone for the organization’s resale arm. Wardrobe Resale is marking its 16th anniversary with a weeklong promotion from September 8–13 across all locations. Shoppers will receive a 16% discount on full-price purchases and earn an additional 16 reward points with each transaction.

In preparation for the fall and winter seasons, The Wardrobe is seeking donations of clothing, particularly in extra-small and extra-large sizes, along with accessories, footwear, bags, basics, and unused toiletry items. These contributions help sustain the organization’s mission of outfitting individuals in need.

Volunteers also play a vital role in The Wardrobe’s operations. The nonprofit is hosting virtual orientations on September 9 and September 23 for those interested in providing one-on-one support or assisting with retail services. Volunteers receive training via Zoom before joining their chosen location, along with benefits such as a 40% shopping discount.

Later this month, The Wardrobe will host its “Open Wardrobe” initiative on Wednesday, September 24, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will serve members of the reentry community at five locations: Exton, Kennett Square, Norristown, Philadelphia, and Upper Darby. Shoppers of all genders, styles, and sizes will be welcomed, with additional resources available at select sites.
