KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — The Goddard School®, a leading early childhood education provider, will attempt to set a Guinness World Records title for the most viewers of a reading live stream on YouTube on Wednesday, September 3, at noon ET. The event marks the start of National Literacy Month and is open to the public.
Steve Burns, best known as the original host of the children’s program Blue’s Clues and host of the upcoming podcast Alive, will read Curious Blueberry the Carousel Horse live from The Goddard School of Manhattan (StuyTown). Students and teachers at the school will attend in person, while thousands more from over 650 Goddard Schools nationwide — along with families and the general public — will join virtually.
“At The Goddard School, we recognize the impact reading has on children’s cognitive, social, emotional and academic development, and its power to spark a love of learning,” said Marcel Nahm, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Goddard Systems, LLC. “We can’t think of a more memorable and engaging way to kick off National Literacy Month than by inspiring the next generation of readers and attempting to set a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title.”
The featured book, written by Steve Metzger and illustrated by Bruno Robert for The Goddard School, follows Blueberry the carousel horse and her animal friends as they learn the value of curiosity. The story integrates open-ended questions to encourage engagement and reflection.
Curious Blueberry the Carousel Horse was created to align with The Goddard School’s Wonder of Learning® program, an inquiry-based approach that promotes academic, social, and emotional development by encouraging children to explore, investigate, and collaborate. The book also provides tips for families to extend inquiry-based learning at home.
With this event, The Goddard School aims not only to set a world record but also to inspire a shared moment of reading that underscores the lifelong value of literacy.
