CHICAGO, IL & CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — ActiveProtective has partnered with Montgomery Place to introduce wearable technology designed to reduce the risk of life-altering injuries from falls among older adults.
Under the new partnership, Montgomery Place will roll out education and access to the Tango Belt for residents and families within its independent and assisted living communities. Leaders from both organizations said the effort reflects a shared focus on safety, dignity, and independence as residents remain active and engaged.
The Tango Belt is an FDA-authorized medical device intended to protect at-risk seniors from fall-related hip fractures. Using sensors and rapid-deploy airbag technology, the belt detects a serious fall in progress and inflates to cushion the hips before impact. When paired with a companion app, the device can also alert designated caregivers or family members when a fall is detected.
Montgomery Place officials said the initiative aligns with the community’s long-standing approach to resident well-being, which emphasizes confidence, engagement, and independence alongside physical safety. Located in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood, Montgomery Place encourages residents to stay active in the surrounding cultural and lakefront areas.
ActiveProtective Chief Executive Officer Wamis Singhatat said the collaboration represents a step toward broader adoption of technology that helps older adults maintain mobility and peace of mind while aging.
Mark Mullahy, chief executive officer of Montgomery Place, said access to protective technology can give residents additional confidence to continue exploring their surroundings and participating fully in daily life.
Both organizations said the partnership reflects a growing interest among senior living providers in integrating innovative, non-intrusive technology to support aging populations while preserving independence and quality of life.
