SupplyOne’s Chicago Grab Signals a New Power Shift in Packaging

SupplyOne

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PASupplyOne, Inc. has snapped up Wertheimer Box, a long-standing Chicago-area corrugated packaging maker, in a move that deepens its reach in one of North America’s most important logistics and manufacturing hubs.

Wertheimer Box, founded in 1939 and based in McCook, Illinois, has built its reputation on custom shipping boxes, branded packaging, e-commerce mailers, and specialty retail displays. Under the leadership of Doug Wertheimer, who became president in 2004, the family-run business expanded into on-demand packaging and digital printing, positioning itself as a go-to supplier for modern, fast-moving retailers and online sellers.

For SupplyOne, the deal is a strategic addition to a national platform that continues to grow through acquisition. Wertheimer Box becomes the company’s 46th purchase, reinforcing its push to assemble a coast-to-coast network of regional packaging specialists under one corporate umbrella.

“By acquiring Wertheimer Box, we are integrating a highly respected and innovative Chicagoland packaging organization whose reputation speaks for itself,” said Todd Renehan, SupplyOne’s president and chief executive. He said Wertheimer’s focus on quality, service, and custom corrugated solutions fits squarely with SupplyOne’s goal of becoming the preferred packaging partner for small and mid-sized businesses.

The acquisition gives SupplyOne a stronger foothold in the Chicago market, a critical corridor for manufacturing, distribution, and e-commerce fulfillment. By combining Wertheimer’s custom corrugated expertise with SupplyOne’s national scale and broader portfolio, the company expects to offer customers faster lead times, more packaging options, and expanded digital printing and supply capabilities.

Doug Wertheimer said the deal allows his company to keep its local culture while gaining access to a larger operational backbone.

“Joining SupplyOne enables us to tap into national resources and logistics, while preserving the close-knit culture and dedicated customer service that our clients know,” he said. “We’re excited for what this partnership means for our customers and to build on an 85-plus-year legacy our employees have built in the market.”

The transaction reflects a wider consolidation trend in the packaging industry, where regional specialists are increasingly being folded into larger networks to meet the demands of e-commerce, customization, and tighter delivery windows. For SupplyOne, the Wertheimer deal is another step in building a national packaging powerhouse one local champion at a time.
