LANCASTER, PA — The Lancaster Stormers have strengthened their lineup with the addition of right-handed pitcher Gerson Moreno and infielder Blake Mayberry, according to an announcement by manager Ross Peeples.

Moreno, 29, brings significant experience with 11 minor league seasons across three organizations, including the Detroit Tigers, where he previously worked with current Lancaster pitching coach Mark Johnson. Most recently, the Dominican Republic native played at the AAA level with the Washington Nationals and Oakland Athletics systems. His 2023 season with the Rochester Red Wings saw him achieve a 3.14 ERA and 91 strikeouts over 59 relief appearances.

“Moreno is a great guy with a good arm who came highly recommended. He will help anchor our back end, and we’re very excited to get him here,” Peeples said.

Mayberry, 24, enters professional baseball following an accomplished collegiate career, during which he played at Harford Community College, St. John’s University, and Lynn University. Across 118 games, the Philadelphia native posted a .331 batting average with 105 runs scored and 75 RBIs.

“Mayberry is a good young player who put up good numbers in college and plays hard. He wants to get to the next level, and we’re going to give him the opportunity to show what he can do,” added Peeples.

To complete these roster changes, the Stormers have released infielder Brandon Wagner. With Moreno and Mayberry joining the team, Lancaster is set for its upcoming nine-game road trip, including stops in Lexington, Charleston, and Long Island. They return home for a series opener against Long Island on Friday, June 20, at 6:45 PM.
