Stormers Bolster Roster With Outfielder and Pitcher Ahead of Playoff Push

Lancaster Stormers

LANCASTER, PA — The Lancaster Stormers have strengthened their roster for the playoff race by signing outfielder Quincy Hamilton and right-handed pitcher Brock Bell, manager Ross Peeples announced.

Hamilton, 27, joins the Stormers after five seasons in the Houston Astros’ farm system, where he advanced as high as Triple-A with the Sugar Land Space Cowboys. A fifth-round draft pick out of Wright State in 2021, Hamilton hit .280 with 17 home runs and 68 RBIs across three levels in 2022. Though he struggled this year, batting .157 in 59 games, he brings a career total of 54 home runs in 400 games. Peeples described him as “a really good player who will help us a lot”.

Bell, also 27, comes from a prominent baseball family. He is the son of former Major League shortstop Jay Bell, an All-Star and 2001 World Series champion, and his brother Brantley has played in the Atlantic League. Brock Bell spent five seasons in the Boston Red Sox system before joining the Cincinnati Reds in 2024. His best season came in 2023, when he went 6-2 with a 3.38 ERA in 35 appearances at Class A Greenville and Salem. Earlier this year, he played for the Chicago Dogs in the American Association, posting a 2-5 record with a 6.04 ERA. He is slated to make his first Stormers start Wednesday against York.

The signings give the Stormers added depth as they begin a six-game, home-and-home series against the York Revolution. Lancaster currently leads the second-half division race by three games over the Long Island Ducks, with 15 contests left in the regular season.

The Stormers are in their 21st year in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, playing home games at Penn Medicine Park in downtown Lancaster, which has been recognized multiple times as one of the league’s best ballparks.
