MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Drivers in Springfield and Whitemarsh townships should prepare for significant daytime disruptions next week as PennDOT moves forward with pipe replacement work along a busy stretch of Stenton Avenue.
PennDOT said Stenton Avenue will be closed and detoured from Monday, December 15, through Thursday, December 18, between Bethlehem Pike and Joshua Road, with work taking place daily from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The closure is necessary to complete underground pipe replacement and is weather dependent.
During the shutdown, motorists will be directed to follow posted detours using Bethlehem Pike, Route 73 (Skippack Pike/Church Road), and Joshua Road. PennDOT warned that congestion and delays are likely not only along the detour routes but also on surrounding local roads as traffic is redirected.
Officials urged drivers to allow extra travel time, remain alert for changing traffic patterns, and obey posted signage while crews are working.
Before heading out, motorists can stay ahead of closures, detours, and real-time traffic conditions by visiting the MyChesCo Traffic Center.
