PHILADELPHIA, PA — Specops Software, part of Outpost24, has expanded its self-service password reset solution, uReset, to support cloud-only Entra ID environments. The move broadens the company’s coverage across on-premises, hybrid, and now fully cloud-based infrastructures, addressing a key challenge in modern IT management.
uReset allows employees to securely reset their own passwords from any device or browser, reducing dependence on IT support teams. The update comes at a time when 94 percent of organizations use some form of cloud computing and password issues remain a top source of IT help desk requests. Gartner estimates that 40 percent of IT help desk calls are related to passwords, creating a costly drain on resources.
By shifting password resets to a secure, self-service model, Specops says organizations can cut help desk call volumes, lower IT costs, and improve employee productivity. “By enabling users to securely reset their own passwords through verified identity challenges, cloud-only Entra ID organizations can dramatically reduce help desk volume while improving user satisfaction and productivity,” said Darren James, senior product manager at Specops Software.
The solution extends beyond native reset tools by offering flexible multi-factor authentication with more than 20 authenticators, including Microsoft Authenticator, Okta, Duo Security, and Yubikey. It also provides real-time feedback during password creation, breached password protection using a database of over four billion compromised credentials, and simple, privacy-focused enrollment.
With this release, uReset becomes one of the few enterprise-grade password management tools supporting organizations across every infrastructure model — from traditional on-premises setups to fully cloud-native operations — at a time when security and efficiency are increasingly critical for IT departments.
