PHILADELPHIA, PA — Sow Good Now, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering underserved youth through sports, will hold its sixth annual softball GiveBack on Saturday, September 27, partnering with the Jefferson University softball team.
The event, scheduled from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Jefferson Softball Field, will bring 30 girls ages 12 to 15 from the George Washington Carver Community Center in Norristown for an afternoon of skills instruction, mentorship, and live game action. Each participant will also receive her own softball glove to take home.
Supported by the KB Foundation, the GiveBack pairs collegiate athletes with young girls who might not otherwise have access to organized sports. The initiative builds on Sow Good Now’s mission of expanding athletic opportunities while fostering confidence, teamwork, and community engagement.
Since its founding in 2018, Sow Good Now has hosted similar programs across Philadelphia, Chester, and Delaware Counties, offering children the chance to learn new sports and build lasting connections with role models.
The organization views its partnerships with college teams as a way to bridge opportunity gaps and inspire the next generation through hands-on instruction and mentorship.
