Smart Chicken Door Celebrates First Year Under New Name

MILLERSVILLE, PA — It’s been one year since Pet Auto Doors officially became Smart Chicken Door, a change that better reflects the company’s product and its defining goals.

Rebranding was about clarity, founder and owner Elam Miller reflected, stating that “It’s been great to operate with a name that now better identifies with what we sell.”

Founded in 2007, Smart Chicken Door was born in response to Miller’s work with The Hen House Collection, one of several companies owned by Elam Miller in the Bird-in-Hand Pet Structures family. As Miller listened to chicken owners ask for a reliable way to automate their coops, and tested the coop doors already on the market, the idea for Smart Chicken Door took shape. Miller’s family of companies also includes The Dog Kennel Collection, Backyard Pet Supplies, and Dwellity, each built around the same hands-on craftsmanship and commitment to quality that defines Smart Chicken Door.

While the original name was well-known, Miller felt it didn’t accurately capture the company’s purpose.

“Our goal is to provide a heavy-duty, high-quality door that offers smarter options to make our customers’ lives a bit easier,” Miller said.

Since adopting the new name in October of 2024, Smart Chicken Door has experienced steady growth, using this momentum as an opportunity to double down on its goal of providing the best auto chicken coop door on the market. The company now offers four automatic door models, including options with timers, Wi-Fi control, and solar power. Many of these can be managed directly from a smartphone to allow customers to open, close, and monitor their coop doors remotely.

One year post-rebrand, Smart Chicken Door is running a limited-time sale, $25 off chicken coop doors, making it a great time for customers to experience the company’s best-selling products firsthand.

Looking ahead, the company plans to keep providing innovative, quality chicken coop doors and exploring new ways to make backyard chicken keeping simpler and secure.
