OAKS, PA — SEI (NASDAQ: SEIC) is sharpening its focus on product-driven growth, naming longtime executive Jeff Benfield as chief product officer in a move that puts technology and client experience at the center of its strategy.
Benfield will report to Chief Technology Officer Zach Womack and take charge of SEI’s enterprise-wide product strategy, overseeing everything from concept and development to execution and optimization. The role gives him responsibility for aligning product investments with business growth, regulatory demands, and the changing needs of financial services clients.
Benfield comes to the position after leading platform strategy and operations for SEI’s asset management business, where he directed the roadmap for the company’s investment and technology platforms used by independent advisors, institutional firms, and private wealth managers.
“Jeff’s proven ability to drive product innovation and his deep understanding of the financial technology landscape will help us deliver solutions that not only meet but anticipate our clients’ needs,” Womack said. He added that Benfield’s leadership will be key to keeping SEI at the front of industry transformation.
SEI is increasingly competing in a market where technology, data, and digital workflows define how advisory firms and asset managers operate. By elevating the chief product role, the company is signaling that software design, scalability, and client experience are now as critical as traditional financial infrastructure.
“Technology is fundamentally reshaping how firms operate and serve clients,” Benfield said. “We have a unique opportunity to lead this change by delivering innovative, scalable solutions that set new benchmarks for the industry.”
Benfield joined SEI in 2014 and brings more than 18 years of financial services experience, including senior roles at Vanguard, BNY Mellon’s Pershing and Albridge units, and Axa Advisors. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University, an MBA from Texas A&M University, a certificate in financial planning from Wake Forest University, and is a Certified Financial Planner.
With Benfield now steering product strategy, SEI is positioning itself to compete more aggressively in a fintech-driven market where clients expect faster innovation, tighter integration, and tools that evolve as quickly as the industry itself.
