Second Front Systems

WILMINGTON, DESecond Front Systems (2F) announced significant changes to its board of directors, appointing Nand Mulchandani, former chief technology officer of the Central Intelligence Agency, as a director, while CEO Tyler Sweatt has been named chairman of the board.

Mulchandani brings more than 25 years of experience at the intersection of Silicon Valley innovation and U.S. national security. He co-founded and scaled several technology startups, leading them through acquisitions by Cisco, Citrix, VMware, and Oracle. He also previously served as CTO at the Department of Defense’s Joint Artificial Intelligence Center and later at the CIA, where he led efforts to drive mission-focused technology innovation.

“In today’s evolving threat environment, safeguarding free-world interests means fusing rapid commercial innovation with deep mission alignment,” Mulchandani said. “I see this company as the connective tissue between the tech sector and the missions that defend our values. I’m honored to join them in building the secure, tech backbone our government demands.”

Sweatt, who joined 2F in 2021 and has led its expansion across federal defense and intelligence sectors, succeeds co-founder Peter Dixon as chairman. Dixon, who helped establish Second Front as a trusted partner at the intersection of commercial innovation and national security, will continue to support the company in its next phase.

“Peter’s steady leadership built the foundation that has allowed 2F to become the company we are today, and I’m grateful for his continued support as we enter this next chapter,” Sweatt said.

Under Sweatt’s leadership, Second Front has expanded its platform to support a broader range of federal agencies, advanced mission capabilities to frontline environments, forged strategic partnerships within the defense technology ecosystem, and accelerated international growth to strengthen U.S. alliances.

The board updates follow a series of milestones for Second Front, including achieving FedRAMP High authorization and securing a strategic partnership with Leidos. The company said these steps position it to play an increasingly central role in delivering secure, mission-ready software for the U.S. government and its allies.
