PHILADELPHIA, PA — Collegiate athletes and city youth will come together on Saturday, January 31, for a hands-on day of mentorship and service as Sow Good Now hosts a GiveBack event uniting the University of Pennsylvania Women’s Rowing team with Philadelphia City Rowing.
The event, scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Tse Ping-Cheng Cheung Ling Sports Center, is designed to connect young athletes with collegiate role models while exposing them to pathways in rowing, higher education, and leadership.
Organizers said the GiveBack experience will place Penn student-athletes in mentorship roles, where they will share their journeys balancing academics and athletics and demonstrate how service and philanthropy can be integrated into competitive sports. Youth participants from Philadelphia City Rowing will tour Penn’s rowing facilities, explore advanced training technology, and gain an inside look at the resources that support Division I collegiate athletics.
Philadelphia City Rowing has long used rowing as a platform to promote academic success, personal growth, and leadership among city youth. The partnership reflects a shared mission among the three organizations to expand access to sport, build confidence, and create opportunity through structured mentorship.
Sow Good Now, which focuses on developing the next generation of philanthropic athletes, said the event underscores its broader goal of teaching young people the value of giving back while building strong community connections through sports.
The GiveBack will take place at 219 South 33rd Street in Philadelphia and is part of a growing slate of service-driven athletic partnerships aimed at pairing elite athletes with local youth to inspire long-term impact beyond competition.
