PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced weekday lane closures on Route 611 (Broad Street) in Philadelphia as part of a local safety improvement project. These closures will support ongoing work on lighting and signage improvements.
Starting Monday, May 19, and continuing through Thursday, June 12, southbound Route 611 will be reduced to a single lane between Pattison Avenue and League Island Boulevard. The closures will occur on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with all activities dependent on favorable weather conditions.
Drivers are urged to account for travel delays caused by these lane restrictions and to consider alternate routes if possible. The lane closures are part of an effort to enhance roadway safety and improve infrastructure for smoother and safer transportation in the region.
This initiative represents one element of a larger improvement plan aimed at modernizing key sections of Philadelphia’s road network. Motorists are encouraged to remain alert while driving near the work zone and to adjust their schedules accordingly to avoid potential disruptions.
