BUCKS COUNTY, PA — A heavily traveled stretch of Route 152 will be shut down during daytime hours in early January as PennDOT advances pipe replacement work that is expected to disrupt traffic across parts of central Bucks County.
PennDOT announced that construction is scheduled to begin Monday, January 5, on Route 152, also known as Limekiln Pike and Main Street, in Hilltown and New Britain townships and Chalfont Borough. The work will require weekday closures through Friday, January 9, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
During the closures, Route 152 will be closed and detoured between Hilltown Pike and Business U.S. 202 (Butler Avenue). Motorists will be routed along Business U.S. 202, County Line Road, Route 309 (Sellersville Bypass), and Hilltown Pike. PennDOT warned that backups and delays are likely, particularly during late-morning and early-afternoon travel periods. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The pipe replacement is part of PennDOT’s ongoing efforts to maintain roadway drainage systems and protect the long-term integrity of state highways, particularly in corridors that carry substantial daily traffic.
With multiple municipalities affected and a key north-south route offline for much of the workday, drivers are urged to plan ahead and adjust travel schedules where possible.
