Roadside Attractions to Distribute Sight & Sound’s Historical Drama ‘A Great Awakening’

Sight Sound Roadside Attractions

LANCASTER, PA & LOS ANGELES, CA — Roadside Attractions has secured domestic distribution rights to A Great Awakening, the second feature film from Sight & Sound, one of the nation’s largest faith-based entertainment producers. The film is slated to open Easter weekend, April 3, 2026, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The announcement follows Sight & Sound’s box office success with Noah, released September 18, which debuted in the top 10, and its first feature film I Heard the Bells (2022). Both projects demonstrated the company’s growing ability to translate its stage productions into cinematic experiences that appeal to faith-driven audiences nationwide.

A Great Awakening dramatizes the friendship between the Reverend George Whitefield and Benjamin Franklin, a relationship that helped spark one of America’s defining spiritual movements. The film portrays Whitefield’s role in the First Great Awakening, a revival that helped unify the colonies and shape the nation’s moral and political foundations. Produced entirely in-house by Sight & Sound’s team of writers, designers, and artists, the film promises the grand scale and emotional depth that have made the company’s live productions a hallmark of faith-based entertainment.

“Our mission is to bring powerful stories of redemption to life on stage and screen,” said Joshua Enck, President of Sight & Sound and the film’s director. “This story captures a moment when faith and liberty intertwined to unite a generation. Partnering with Roadside Attractions allows us to share this message amid America’s 250th year, when freedom and its meaning will again be front of mind.”

Sight & Sound, headquartered in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, draws more than 1.5 million visitors annually to its theaters in Lancaster and Branson, Missouri. Its productions also reach global audiences through streaming, broadcasts, and theatrical releases, connecting with more than four million people worldwide each year.

Roadside Attractions Co-Presidents Howard Cohen and Eric d’Arbeloff called the partnership a natural fit. “Sight & Sound brings an extraordinarily large and devoted audience,” they said in a joint statement. “Their ability to turn the energy of their live shows into cinematic storytelling makes them an ideal partner. With A Great Awakening arriving during the nation’s semiquincentennial, we’re excited to deliver an uplifting story that reflects both history and hope.”

The collaboration marks a significant step in Sight & Sound’s continued expansion into film, following the unexpected success of I Heard the Bells, which grossed $5.6 million and held a top-10 box office position for eight weeks despite an initially limited release. A Great Awakening aims to build on that momentum, uniting historical drama, spiritual reflection, and national celebration in one timely cinematic event.
