LANSDOWNE, PA — Progressive rock fans will witness a landmark moment when Annie Haslam and Jim McCarty bring The History of Renaissance to the Lansdowne Theater on Saturday, November 29, at 8 p.m. The event marks the first time members from both eras of the legendary symphonic rock band will share the stage for an evening of stories, visuals, and live performance.
Following what was believed to be their farewell tour in 2024, Haslam—celebrated for her soaring five-octave range—and McCarty—Renaissance co-founder and Yardbirds alumnus—are reuniting to revisit the band’s storied journey. Originally conceived as a solo show for Haslam, the idea quickly evolved into a full-scale reunion after McCarty joined the project.
“Renaissance and McCarty fans are invited to experience our coming full circle,” Haslam said. “It was destined to happen one day.”
The performance will trace the group’s evolution from its 1969 beginnings, when McCarty and Keith Relf sought to blend classical sophistication with rock energy, to the 1970s lineup that brought Haslam’s ethereal voice to international acclaim. Renaissance became a cornerstone of symphonic rock, performing alongside the New York Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall and the Royal Philharmonic at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Their 1978 hit “Northern Lights” remains a fan favorite across generations.
Haslam expressed excitement about performing “Face of Yesterday,” a song from McCarty’s later band Illusion. “It’s such a gorgeous song,” she said. McCarty added, “I’ll be talking with Annie about how the band formed and got that sound. Also very pleased to be singing some of my own songs.”
The lineup includes Haslam (lead vocals), McCarty (acoustic guitar and vocals), Rave Tesar (keyboards), Mark Lambert (guitars, vocals), Geoffrey Langley (keyboards, vocals), John Galgano (bass, vocals), and Frank Pagano (drums, percussion, vocals).
Tickets for The History of Renaissance range from $47.90 to $295.15 and are available at thelansdownetheater.com.
For fans of classic rock, this night promises not just nostalgia, but a rare glimpse into the artistry and legacy of one of the genre’s most enduring bands.
