Rebecca Campbell Joins Philadelphia Inquirer Board

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Rebecca Campbell, interim chief executive officer of Meow Wolf and a former senior executive at The Walt Disney Co., has joined The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Board of Directors, Publisher and CEO Elizabeth H. Hughes announced.

Campbell brings more than 40 years of experience in media and live entertainment, including digital distribution and streaming operations.

She was raised in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, and studied journalism at Bloomsburg University. She began her career in local television in Allentown and Lancaster and later served as president and general manager of Philadelphia’s 6abc.

Campbell spent 26 years at Disney, where she oversaw international content and operations before retiring in 2023.

She currently serves as interim CEO and a board member of Meow Wolf, an immersive arts company. She is also a board member of Versant Media, a publicly traded company formed from a Comcast spinoff that owns cable channels including CNBC and Golf Channel.

“My roots are local, and I know what The Inquirer means to the community and keeping everybody connected,” Campbell said in a statement.

Inquirer Board Chair Lisa Kabnick said Campbell’s background in local journalism and digital media would contribute to the organization’s strategy as an independent news outlet.

Campbell joins Hughes, Kabnick, Vice Chair Keith Leaphart, Josh Kopelman, Mary Stengel Austen, S. Mitra Kalita, Neil Vogel and Gillian B. White on the board.

The Philadelphia Inquirer, founded in 1829, operates as a for-profit public benefit corporation under the nonprofit Lenfest Institute for Journalism.
