Police Seek Suspect in Deadly Highway Shooting

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Police are searching for a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a 40-year-old man on a highway in Southwest Philadelphia last month.

According to Philadelphia police, the shooting occurred Thursday, February 26 in the area of the 6700 block of Upland Street. Investigators said the victim, described as a 40-year-old Black male, died after being shot on the highway.

The Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit released a video compilation of the individual they say is believed to be connected to the investigation and are asking the public for help identifying and locating him.

Police described the suspect as a brown-complexioned male believed to be in his late 30s to early 40s with a medium to stocky build, standing approximately 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall. Investigators said he was wearing a dark jacket with white fur around the collar, blue jeans, and white-soled sneakers at the time of the incident.

According to police, the suspect was last seen fleeing on foot southbound on the 2100 block of South 68th Street.

City officials are offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Authorities said anyone who sees the suspect should not approach him and should call 911 immediately.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
