PHILADELPHIA, PA — The holiday season is set to shine brighter across the Philadelphia and South Jersey region as neighborhoods, business districts, and major attractions roll out a full slate of Christmas tree lighting celebrations. From Manayunk’s massive crowd-drawing spectacle to Camden’s waterfront festivities, the region is gearing up for one of its most ambitious lighting seasons yet.
Communities from Fishtown to New Hope and Northern Liberties to Egg Harbor City will host ceremonies featuring Santa arrivals, live performances, family activities, and themed experiences designed to draw residents and visitors into local business corridors.
The season begins with Manayunk’s blockbuster celebration on November 20, expected to attract more than 10,000 visitors. Organizers say this year’s ceremony will feature double the artificial snow, a lineup of performers, and the debut of the district’s annual “Manayunk Gets Lit” competition involving more than 40 businesses.
Other major attractions are also joining the festivities. The Philadelphia Zoo’s LumiNature event will unveil its new 110-foot Pherris Wheel on November 26, incorporating the lighting of the wheel into a broader holiday kickoff that includes wildlife-themed displays and returning favorites like the flamingo tree and Penguin Prismatic show.
In Bucks County, New Hope will continue its decades-long tradition on December 30 with a family-focused ceremony at the Logan Inn, complete with holiday treats and Santa’s fire truck arrival courtesy of the local fire company.
Center City will shine on December 1 as the Festival of Trees returns to Love Park, benefiting the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. This year’s exhibit includes more trees, expanded designs, and a new feature honoring CHOP patients with hundreds of illuminated stars suspended above the displays.
Northern Liberties will host its lighting event on December 2 along Restaurant Row, where Amazon Fresh and neighborhood partners will offer ornament decorating, live entertainment, and toy collections for Operation Santa. Nearby Fishtown will see its own celebrations, including Mamajuana Cafe’s unveiling of a 25-foot tree with 10,000 lights and Evil Genius Beer Company’s indoor lighting party tied to the release of its annual holiday beer.
Outside the city, Renault Winery’s Vintner Wonderland in Egg Harbor City will launch its season with the lighting of its signature wine-barrel tree, followed by ice skating, a holiday market, and Santa photo opportunities. Roxborough will hold its community-wide celebration on December 6, featuring an artisan winter market, live performances, and its popular Wishing Trees installation. That same evening, Camden will light its waterfront tree near the Adventure Aquarium, with family activities, performances, and fire pits rounding out the celebration.
With events stretching from mid-November into early December, organizers across the region expect strong turnout as families look to kick off the season with safe, festive community gatherings. Each ceremony offers its own draw — from snow machines and observation wheels to neighborhood markets and charity drives — creating a regional calendar packed with attractions for all ages.
Residents are encouraged to check local schedules for updates as dates and programming may shift.
