PHILADELPHIA, PA — Halloween season in Philadelphia is getting a theatrical twist with the launch of the city’s first Hocus Pocus Speakeasy and Cocktail Experience. Running October 3 through November 15 at Red Rum Theatre and Bar inside The Curtis, the immersive pop-up blends themed cocktails, interactive performances, and murder mystery productions.
The venue, home to the nation’s only dedicated murder mystery theatre and bar, is partnering with Without a Cue Productions and Pops McCann Whiskey to stage a month-long lineup of events. Guests can expect Sanderson Sister–hosted cocktail sessions, Hocus Pocus Bingo, psychic readings, and specialty shows ranging from a Schitt’s Creek parody to a Wizard of Oz–inspired whodunit. A Rocky Horror–themed cocktail experience rounds out the season.
“Grab your broomsticks, fluff up your wigs and prepare to get spellbound,” said Without a Cue Productions’ founder and executive director Traci Connaughton. She noted that the October programming marks the theatre’s first seasonal transformation, pairing custom cocktails with performances from Philadelphia actors.
Highlights include Saturday cocktail experiences where participants brew and sip three themed “potions,” Friday night events such as Sips & Psychics and Dirty Potter, and a slate of weekend murder mysteries including A Rose Colored Murder, Murder of Oz, and Deadly Dancing. The theatre will also host its first singles event, The Great Singles Heist, on October 15.
Located at 601 Walnut Street, Red Rum Theatre is tucked inside the Curtis Center, near PJ Clarke’s and Rockwell and Rose Steakhouse. Costumes are encouraged, and all events are 21+. Tickets and reservations are available at redrum.live.
