PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Zoo’s award-winning holiday light show, LumiNature presented by PNC, is back and bigger than ever, featuring the debut of the 110-foot-tall Philly Zoo Pherris Wheel. Opening November 20, this year’s event promises more than a million lights, new attractions, and a renewed focus on immersive, family-friendly experiences.

For the first time in the Zoo’s 150-year history, guests can soar above the grounds on the Philly Zoo Pherris Wheel, taking in sweeping views of the illuminated exhibits, the Schuylkill River, and the Philadelphia skyline. The new observation wheel will remain on-site through 2026, coinciding with the city’s America 250 celebrations.

“Winter at the Zoo is different and still a wonderful time to visit,” said Dr. Jo-Elle Mogerman, President and CEO of the Philadelphia Zoo. “This light show is designed for guests of all ages to connect with animals, each other, and the beauty of our planet during the holiday season.”

This year’s event also introduces Santa’s Lodge, a cozy indoor destination where guests can meet Santa Claus, enjoy warm beverages, and participate in activities such as cookie decorating and ornament making. Returning favorites include the Penguin Prismatic light show featuring a 40-foot penguin illuminated by 40,000 lights, and the iconic Flamingo Tree—a 25-foot display built from 1,500 pink lawn flamingos.

Guests can use the Zoo’s classic Zoo Key to activate special displays throughout the grounds, including the Magic Fountain and Flutter Flair butterfly tree. Other highlights include the Enchanted Fairy Forest, Jambi’s Solstice Saloon riverside lounge, and Arctic Trek, which leads to Santa’s Lodge.

“LumiNature has become a true Philadelphia tradition and one of the most spectacular winter light shows in our area,” said Joe Meterchick, PNC’s Philadelphia Regional President. “We especially look forward to seeing the newest view from more than 100 feet up in the air this holiday season.”

Guests can also enjoy the SEPTA PZ Express train, the Amazon Rainforest Carousel, and numerous food and beverage options, from gourmet s’mores to festive cocktails. Premium experiences include the Date Night package with drinks and s’mores kits, and Igloo at the Zoo private rentals for up to eight guests.

LumiNature runs most nights from November 20 through January 3, 2026, from 5 to 9 p.m. Timed tickets range from $22 to $29 for adults and $18 to $24 for children, with “Anytime Tickets” available for flexible visits. Zoo members receive discounted pricing.
