PHILADELPHIA, PA — Talent experience platform Phenom has launched an intelligent fraud detection agent designed to safeguard employers against increasingly sophisticated candidate deception.
The company cites a Gartner forecast projecting that by 2028, one in four job candidates worldwide will be fake, costing U.S. employers millions. Phenom’s Fraud Detection Agent is billed as the industry’s first AI-driven solution capable of identifying fabricated resumes, AI-assisted interview responses, and imposter candidates in real time.
The technology integrates with Phenom’s Interview Intelligence platform, using facial recognition, voice matching, and AI response detection to verify candidate identity and authenticity during video interviews. It also cross-references resumes, portfolios, and interview responses to provide recruiters with a comprehensive fraud risk assessment.
“Organizations need to address the surge in sophisticated hiring fraud, particularly in industries where workers handle highly sensitive information or organizations that depend on remote work,” said Kumar Ananthanarayana, Vice President and General Manager of Product Management at Phenom. “Our Fraud Detection Agent is the answer.”
The launch comes amid heightened concerns about national security and data integrity. Federal authorities have reported cases of North Korean nationals fraudulently securing remote IT jobs with U.S. firms by using stolen identities.
By detecting fraud in real time while maintaining human oversight, Phenom’s solution aims to reduce mis-hires, mitigate compliance risks, and protect corporate reputations. The company positions the tool as critical for industries such as healthcare, finance, and manufacturing, where employee trust directly impacts organizational security.
