Penske Rolls Out AI Platform to Track 600,000 Loads and Speed Supply Chains

READING, PA — Penske Logistics said it is deploying a new artificial intelligence platform from Augment following a successful six-month pilot, a move the company says will sharpen freight visibility and cut manual work across its operations.

The AI system supplements Penske’s existing track-and-trace tools and integrates with leading transportation management systems, giving operating teams faster access to real-time shipment status while improving ease and accuracy for customers and associates.

Jeff Jackson, president of Penske Logistics, said the rollout is part of a broader AI strategy focused on delivering greater clarity and certainty in an increasingly complex logistics environment.

In the initial phase, Penske will use Augment’s AI “teammate” to validate the status of an estimated 600,000 loads. The company expects productivity gains of 30 to 40 percent as the platform automates routine tasks and streamlines follow-up with carrier dispatchers. Penske said the efficiencies span inbound freight, middle-mile movements, and final delivery, with additional gains anticipated as the system scales.

Augment’s platform initiates outreach by call, email, or text when shipment updates are not otherwise available, connecting with carrier dispatchers through their preferred communication channels. The system adapts to each carrier’s escalation process and routes exceptions to human operators when needed, helping ensure shipment data remains accurate and timely.

Harish Abbott, Augment’s co-founder and chief executive officer, said the partnership reflects a shift toward logistics-native AI that works across existing systems and grows smarter as it learns real-world workflows. He said Penske’s early adoption positions it among companies shaping the next phase of supply chain execution.

Penske said the deployment builds on its broader technology investments aimed at improving freight visibility and reliability for customers as supply chains continue to evolve.
