RIDLEY TWP, PA —The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced plans for pavement marking installations next week along MacDade Boulevard in Ridley Township, Delaware County. These efforts are part of a broader $19 million project designed to enhance safety and traffic flow in the area.
The lane closures will occur between Sunday, June 29, and Wednesday, July 2, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning. Drivers on MacDade Boulevard between Bullens Lane and Fairview Road, as well as those using the northbound I-476 ramp to MacDade Boulevard, should expect intermittent 15-minute traffic stoppages. Motorists are advised to account for delays when planning travel as all work is weather dependent.
The safety upgrades include the addition of a left-turn lane on eastbound MacDade Boulevard at Bullens Lane to reduce rear-end collisions and improve visibility for turning vehicles. Auxiliary lanes are being built on northbound I-476 near the MacDade Boulevard and U.S. 1 interchanges to improve traffic flow. The ramp from northbound I-476 to MacDade Boulevard is being widened and realigned to create a signalized “T” intersection, enhancing driver safety.
Pedestrians will also benefit from the project with the construction of a new bridge over Crum Creek, aligned with MacDade Boulevard. Additional improvements include upgraded traffic signals, the installation of dynamic message boards for better communication, and new curb ramps and guiderails.
The project is being managed by Allan Myers, LP, of Montgomery County. Stay ahead of delays and get the latest updates on this $19M safety project—visit the MyChesCo Traffic Center now!
