PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced nighttime geotechnical drilling next week on Interstate 95 and Interstate 676 in Center City Philadelphia. Motorists traveling through these areas should prepare for potential delays and lane restrictions as crews carry out the scheduled work.
On Wednesday, May 28, and Thursday, May 29, lane closures will be in effect during nighttime hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning. The closures will impact southbound I-95 between the Aramingo Avenue and I-676 interchanges, as well as eastbound I-676 between the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) and the 6th Street overpass.
Drivers passing through these areas are advised to allocate extra time for their commutes, as significant backups and delays are anticipated during the overnight operations.
PennDOT noted that all planned drilling activities are weather dependent and subject to change based on conditions. Motorists are urged to stay alert and follow signs and guidance in the work zones to ensure the safety of both workers and fellow road users.
