MIDDLETOWN TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced the completion of a new roundabout at the intersection of Langhorne-Yardley Road and Bridgetown Pike in Bucks County. The work was part of a $10.8 million project designed to improve traffic flow and safety along Langhorne-Yardley Road at both the Bridgetown Pike and Woodbourne Road intersections.
Under this contract, crews built a single-lane roundabout, realigned the roadway, upgraded traffic signals, and added stormwater management features, ADA-compliant curb ramps, new signage, and improved lighting. The project also enhanced pedestrian and bicycle mobility with paved shoulders, sidewalks, new paths connecting to Core Creek Park, and Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) at key crossings.
While the Bridgetown Pike roundabout is now open, additional improvements on Langhorne-Yardley Road and Woodbourne Road will continue through late 2025. These upgrades include realigning the northern leg of Woodbourne Road, constructing auxiliary turn lanes, and widening the eastern leg of Woodbourne Road to add a left-turn lane at Langhorne-Yardley Road near Erica Drive.
Beginning Monday, August 18, through Friday, September 5, weekday lane closures with flagging will occur from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Woodbourne Road between Kilburn Road and Core Creek Park, and on Langhorne-Yardley Road between Briggs Road and Bridgetown Pike for roadway reconstruction.
James D. Morrissey, Inc. of Philadelphia is serving as the general contractor. The project is being financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds. PennDOT advises motorists to plan for delays when traveling through the construction zones.
