Paving Work Set for U.S. 1 in Bucks County as $116 Million Road Project Advances

Traffic Alert

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that nighttime paving will begin next week on U.S. 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships as part of a major infrastructure overhaul in Bucks County.

From Sunday, July 13, through Friday, July 18, lane closures are scheduled each night from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM on U.S. 1 in both directions between Fairhill Avenue and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange. PennDOT is urging motorists to plan for delays and allow extra travel time when passing through the construction zone. All work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled in case of inclement conditions.

This paving operation is a key phase of PennDOT’s $116 million U.S. 1/RC2 contract, which is focused on reconstructing and widening a critical three-mile stretch of U.S. 1. The broader project extends from just south of the Rockhill Drive Interchange to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange.

The improvements aim to enhance safety, increase capacity, and modernize one of the region’s most heavily traveled corridors. Once completed, the reconstruction will help streamline traffic flow and reduce congestion in an area that serves as a vital connection for commuters and commercial traffic alike.
