LANCASTER COUNTY, PA — Drivers using Route 222 near the Route 30 interchange should prepare for overnight delays next week as PennDOT crews install overhead highway sign structures as part of a major interchange improvement project.
At A Glance
- Roads Affected: Route 222 between Route 30 and the Landis Valley Road Overpass
- Dates: Monday, March 16 – Friday, March 20
- Times: 9:00 PM – 6:00 AM
- Reason: Installation of overhead highway sign structures
PennDOT said nighttime lane restrictions will be in place in both directions of Route 222 while crews install new overhead signs tied to the Route 222/Route 30 Interchange Improvement Project.
Motorists should also expect rolling stops of up to 15 minutes in each direction of Route 222 between Route 30 and the Landis Valley Road overpass during overnight work hours. Drivers should plan extra time and remain alert for stopped or slow-moving traffic approaching the work zone.
In addition to the lane restrictions, the ramp from southbound Route 222 to westbound Route 30 will be closed for paving from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM on the night of Thursday, March 19.
Drivers traveling south on Route 222 who need to access westbound Route 30 will be directed to continue south to the ramp for eastbound Route 30, then follow eastbound Route 30 to the Route 23 East/New Holland Pike exit before returning west on Route 30.
The work is part of a larger project to improve the Route 222/Route 30 interchange and expand Route 222 to six lanes for roughly one mile north of the interchange near Stoner Park.
Motorists traveling through the corridor overnight should plan extra time or consider alternate routes to avoid delays.
