PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that nighttime shoulder excavation will require lane closures next week on southbound Interstate 95 in Northeast Philadelphia.
From Monday, September 8, through Friday, September 12, a single lane will be closed nightly between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. between the Betsy Ross Bridge and Allegheny Avenue interchanges. PennDOT advised motorists to allow extra travel time, warning that backups and delays are expected. All work is weather dependent.
The closure is part of PennDOT’s $355.3 million I-95/BR3 project, which involves widening and reconstructing northbound I-95 between Wheatsheaf Lane and just north of Margaret Street.
