WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a series of overnight lane closures on I-476 beginning Monday, August 4, as part of a comprehensive $63.7 million infrastructure project aimed at improving nearly 17 miles of the interstate from I-76 in West Conshohocken to I-95 in Ridley Township.
The closures, which will take place nightly through Thursday, August 7, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, are required for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) upgrades and other critical improvements. Impacted areas include:
- Northbound I-476 between the U.S. 1 Interchange (Exit 5) and Springfield Road overpass
- Southbound I-476 between the Marple Road overpass and the Route 3 (West Chester Pike) Interchange
- Southbound I-476 between the U.S. 1 Interchange and Beatty Road overpass
- U.S. 30 ramp to northbound I-476
- Northbound I-476 ramp to U.S. 30
- Southbound I-476 ramp to Route 3
Drivers should expect delays and allow extra time when navigating through these work zones. All operations are weather dependent.
The extensive project includes resurfacing travel lanes and shoulders, repairing 49 bridges, enhancing stormwater management across 21 basins, stabilizing rock slopes, upgrading drainage inlets, and improving roadside safety features such as guiderails, signs, and sound walls.
H&K Group, Inc. of Skippack is managing the federally funded project, which is designed to improve ride quality, extend infrastructure life, and enhance roadway safety along this vital transportation corridor.
