Overnight Lane Closure Scheduled on Northbound I-95 in South Philadelphia for Barrier Installation

Traffic Advisory

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that a single lane closure will be in place on northbound I-95 in South Philadelphia this week as part of a $37.4 million project to perform high-priority bridge repairs.

The closure is scheduled for today, August 28, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, between Packer Avenue and Christian Street. Motorists are advised to allow additional travel time, as significant delays are expected.

The project addresses structural repairs to bridge decks, superstructures, and substructures, including expansion joint replacements, concrete restoration, and steel reinforcement. Crews will also repaint 11 overhead steel sign structures and upgrade existing roadway lighting to LED luminaires.
