PHILADELPHIA, PA — Commuters should brace for overnight delays next week as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) performs bridge deck repairs and barrier installation along southbound I-95 in Northeast Philadelphia.
From Monday, November 17, through Friday, November 21, lane closures will be in place nightly from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM between the Cottman Avenue (Route 73) and Allegheny Avenue interchanges. The closures are part of PennDOT’s $355.3 million I-95 Section BR3 project, which focuses on widening and reconstructing the northbound lanes between Wheatsheaf Lane and just north of Margaret Street.
Additionally, the ramp from Aramingo Avenue at the Bridge Street Interchange to I-95 south remains closed until Friday, November 21, for ramp construction. Drivers will be detoured to Aramingo Avenue via the Betsy Ross Bridge Interchange, then directed onto Adams Avenue and back to I-95 south.
PennDOT urges motorists to use alternate routes or plan for extra travel time, as heavy congestion and delays are expected during overnight hours. All work is weather dependent.
