MIDDLETOWN TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that nighttime bridge repair work will take place next week on U.S. 1 in Middletown Township, Bucks County. The work is part of a $37.4 million federal project aimed at addressing high-priority repairs on interstate bridges to improve long-term safety and mobility across key travel corridors.

From Monday, November 3, through Friday, November 7, crews will implement a single lane closure from 9:00 PM to 12:00 AM, followed by a double lane closure from 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM on both northbound and southbound U.S. 1 beneath Interstate 295. The restrictions will allow workers to perform substructure repairs on the overhead bridge. Drivers should plan for delays and allow extra time when traveling through the area. All work is weather dependent.

The project includes extensive repairs to bridge decks, steel supports, and concrete structures to extend service life and reduce maintenance needs. Crews will also clean and repaint 11 overhead steel sign structures and upgrade roadway lighting to energy-efficient LED fixtures, improving nighttime visibility and safety.

IEW Construction Group, Inc., of Hamilton, New Jersey, serves as the general contractor for the fully federally funded project.
